I just received a whole bunch of clothes from a friend of mine who’s child outgrew her clothes. My child can not wear these clothes until she is about 3-4 yrs old. She is 2yo. What is the best way to store the clothes without moths getting to them? I plan on storing them in the attic.

I really like those plastic bags that allow you to use a vacuum to suck the air out. Throw a couple dryer sheets in with the cloths and they should even smell pretty decent when you open them up.

you want dust to get in them
anyway put it in a garbage bag next to the child room

1: Make sure they are CLEAN… Body soil or any organic or chemical contamination can ‘rot’ or discolor the clothes while in storage.

#2: I like space bags. It is better to buy a handful of small ones then 1 or 2 large ones because they are easy to puncture… I have a cat and laearned this the hard way… If they do tear or get a hole, use clear packing tape on the hole. It also helps to tape up the zipper end with a piece of clear packing tape.

I have an XL bag that has a thousand little kitten claw holes that I was able to fix with packing tape.

I washed the clothing- Making sure to pretreat stains and I used SPACE BAGS.. The bags however didn’t stay “airtight” so I used them anyway… My friends stores out of season or childrens clothing in her attic or basement in NEW clean OUTSIDE garbage cans with tight fitting lids. They are inexpensive, easy to store and label. Cheaper than storage totes and more protective than boxes.. If I were going to buy space bags.. I’d get the cube ones they seem to stay sealed or contained better…. I pop acouple dryer sheets into my storage containers to discourage mice and other nibbling creatures PLUS the clothing will smell nice….!

**The space bags I have- have a warranty.. Just cut the seal off the bag and send it to the company for a new one…. I had one break and followed the instructions on the website…

Also, I think they are GOOD HOUSEKEEPING APPROVED and they offer an extended warranty….
