Does anyone know the average cost for a retail company to hire a DA for trial?
David L asked:
If there is no plea bargain in a case involving stolen goods or theft at a store, how much would it cost the retail company to go to trial with the DA? Does the company pay for it?

I work for a large retail company in texas my store manager is constantly threatening to fire people?
Melissa G asked:
I work for a large retail company in texas, my store manager who is new tells other management daily she is going to fire them. Is there some type of law against abuse from your manager in the work place. If so where can I find this information?
Unfortunately I cant go to the person above her because he is the same way which is my district manager Ive worked for this company for 5 years at several different locations and I have never seen a manager treat her employees this way, I have thought about getting a transfer to a different location but she told her associates if it is not for personal reasons she will tell the other store we are lazy and don’t want to work which is why we are transferring.
There is an employee aware line I can call and we have Hrs although Ive never seen one in our store.

Can a company fire you if you don’t sign for a demotion?
Iccarra asked:
Several hourly supervisors have had their jobs threatened, one having his job lost, if they did not take a lower position and less pay. It seems like the company I work for, the store at least, will find any little any reason to fire them. This doesn’t seem right, is there anything my supervisors can do?

Can a company restrict an employee where to perform cpr and first aid?
justmaker100 asked:
I work in Loss Prevention at a local mall. One of the other stores had an incident where cpr and first aid had to be rendered to a customer. The customer passed away. After our store learned that we assisted another store with the incident, they in turn wrote a policy that we are not allowed to leave property to assist another store. We are no longer allowed to render cpr and first aid help to other stores. Can a company do this?

Is there an ethical issue here: If you are on company time and you go to the store to make a purchase?
comusbassington asked:
And the purchase is for work, and the cashier gives you change. In this change you find a valuable coin (say, a 1956 silver quarter). Can you keep the valuable quarter? Does it matter if you have spend out-of-pocket first for the purchase and then have to submit to your company for reimbursement (ie, the purchase was authorized, but no company funds were provided prior to the purchase)? What if you made a personal purchase along with the company purchase during a single transaction? Is there a higher ethical standard if you are a government (city/state/national) employee rather than an employee of a private company?
The implication prior to the second question above is, if the company gave you funds to go make the purchase first, and you got the valuable quarter in change, is that the company’s property, or not?
I’m as real as you are, patriotwww.
The point of making a personal purchase during the company purchase is that, can you rationalize what change goes with what purchase, or does that matter.

My daughter was injured at a store. the company only wants to reimburse my deductible, is that fair?
numanye asked:
The shopping cart got ahold of a suitcase on the top shelf. When I spoke to the corporate office, they stated that they were waiting on the medical bill. I faxed that over to them. They waited for a month, when of course my insurance footed the bill for the emergency room. Now the company does not want to pay the full bill, they only want to reimburse the deductible. I guess my problem is that they waited a month, when my insurance paid the bill from my account, so they would only have to pay my out of pocket cost. Is that legal? It just does not seem fair or ethical.
