There is no law against telling employees they are in danger of losing their jobs. There is nothing abusive about that. Landlord

Ignore it and concentrate on doing your job. That is why you work there, right.

Texas is an "employment at will" state. At will employees have no job security. They can be fired for any reason or for no reason at all just as they are free to quit their jobs no explanation needed. Your manager can fire you because he didn't like the color of your shoe, but he doesn't have to tell you that.

Again, getting yourself involved in gossip and office politics can get you fired. Stay away from it!

It depends on where you live, I suppose.

I'm in Florida, and my state is referred to an "Employment at will" state. Basically, that means that the employee and the employer mutually retain the right to quit/fire "at will." This means there's no mandatory two-week notice.

I assume, if you fall under the same circumstances, that they'd exercise that policy unless he decided to take the demotion. But he may have a case in regards to "why" he was fired. If it's not too personal, do a little digging and find out exactly what it is that the company is firing employees over. If it's a downsizing issue, you're out of luck, but if it's unethical conduct on the companies behalf then you could probably talk to someone in the human resources department and really stick it to the company. John

Melissa

There is no law against it... depending on how it is done. New, insecure supervisors, are often the most likely to use this tactic. Rather than using diplomacy or developed management skills, they use the 'threat' as their primary management tool.

Start an E commerce store.

The pros are that:
Cheap to start.
You can market it nationally - quickly.
You don't have to carry inventory (you can get it shipped directly by the manufacturer).

Key to success:
Find great niches with moderate competition.
Be great at getting on the first page of Google (SEO).
Find great suppliers.

The best part about it is that it is free to learn.

Good luck Will Pena, MBA

It sounds like you work for a retail camera store. New camera sold significantly below the stated Manufacturer's List price are problem what is called Grey Market cameras, units that were meant to be sold in other countries and bought cheaply and sold cheaply. That exist in almost every market to some extent. The problem with buying grey market items is that the US service centers will not honor the warranties which might mean taht if you have to get the camere repaired, you have to send it to the country that was designated to sell the camera.

You find the same problem with watches, electronics and other items. It all boils down to CAVEAT EMPTOR - buyer beware. Polyhistor

No, it is not possible. A company is owned by the shareholders (Stock holders for a public company and the people that either started the company or bought the company in the case of private companies.) In the hypothetical situation, you would probably wipe the company out of merchandise, but that is all. Adam

Hopefully, your contract with Verizon is over or you're willing to pay the ETF.

The account holder simply has to go online and add a new line to the family plan. One of the prompts will be for a telephone number to be ported, yours should be entered. Porting your number will end your Verizon service. You will be eligible to get a new phone at the new customer price. evilattorney
