How do you like to greeted when you enter a store?
???? asked:
I work in a small boutique and would like to know how some of you prefer to be greeted. I personally do the laid back approach to greeting. Just a simple “Hello how are you?” kinda thing. I like to let my customers drift around the store before I ask them if they are finding everything alright. But sometimes I do feel like I could do more. So just give me some ideas on how you would like to be welcomed into a store. Thanks peeps.

Personally, I love your approach. I loathe feeling pressured by staff, so when I am offered a pleasant greeting and a “I’ll be here if you have any questions.”, I am at my most comfortable in a shop. vic91106
Stay laid back and don’t ever start that “dear” stuff Warren
just say “hello, ill be here if you need any questions =)
be casual and laidback…i ahte it when people attack you lol Heya
Stay casual, just smile, say hello or good morning/afternoon and ‘If you need help I’m here’ or something.
I hate feeling pressured in a shop, there’s one shop I go into and I hate it in there, I feel like the staff are like vultures! lol Shadow
I prefer finding things on my own. I don’t like it when the owner of salesperson comes up and offers me help. However if I can’t find something I am looking for or I am confused, I myself go over and ask them a question. Obviously, everyone is different as you’ll know. So I guess the best approach would be to just say Hi, Hello or whatever. Don’t say anything else. Let them look around. After a few minutes if you feel they aren’t able to find what they are looking for, go over and let them know you are there to help them find what they are looking for. Prince
I HATE being “greeted” by someone when I walk into a store !! I`m shopping there because I NEED something …. and NOT looking for conversation , or a pen-pal !!
Most people look for somewhere to run and hide if they see the resident “store greeter” headed their way !! I know I certainly do !! Who the hell feels comfy , fuzzy , and warm all over talking to a complete stranger that comes up to them and starts a conversation anyways ??
How do we know you`re not a pervert , mass-murderer , serial rapist , a bum looking for a handout , or just another crazy person looking for the next victim !!
I think your store would be better served if you put up a sign at the entrance saying “Welcome” and crouched down behind a display case watching for shoplifters !! little_HUSSEINS_no_bell_prize
