I think I’m doing it wrong, cause when I pull it out of the kitchen after couple days, there’s a weird, bad smell. Right now I put the package of raw meat into a ziploc bag and put it in the normal section of the fridge. What can I do to store it from smelling bad after opening it?

You need to put it in the freezer. This traps the ‘chemicals’ inside and makes it stop smelling and going off for a couple of days. Hope this works for you. JUNE

Um, first off after you open a meat product from its originally package, it turns bad after about 3 days in the fridge (depending on the meat). After you take it out of its original package put it in the freezer. Caelan

After you use it put it in the frige, but if you put it in the frige and it smells bad, maybe its expired.
Always look at the date so you don’t get food posioning. Blue Jay

You should rinse and wash your meat shake to make it as dry as you can before storing in a plastic, foil, paper bag and put it in a freezer or under-freezer part of your refrigerator. Pat

You need to freeze it, raw meat only lasts a few days in the fridge after opening it. Shantal

Once you open a package of meat… I would rinse it off and dry thoroughly before putting in the ziploc.
The issue mainly arises when you have too much liquid. The liquid encourages bacterial growth.

Also, refrigerated meats will only last 4 to 5 days at the most. Dave C

Portion it up into the amounts you’ll need. Wrap each portion tightly in wax paper, then foil. Pop them all in a ziploc bag, squish out the air, seal, and toss it in the freezer. Meat will stay good for a long time that way. chefgrille
