What is the best way to store my sons hotwheels ?
AprlShwrs asked:
My husband has recently started a hotwheel collection for our 19 month old son. I am wondering if it is bettter for us to keep the cars in their original packageing or if we should buy cases to store them in. I’m refering to the cars that we intend to collect for him and not the ones we will open for him to play with later.

the cases they came in
For the collection, keep in the package and be sure to keep the package in good condition as it will hold the value later if the packaging is mint.
If you want to display, you can create a system where you “hang” them on the wall in a grid pattern and once a month or so you can rotate them out for different models.
You can also create a shadow box that is large enough to hold them in the package and them rotate them out that way too. You may consider creating a plexiglass cover to keep the dust out so you don’t have to clean them all the time! (With a little one you won’t have time!)
Hope this helps!
well, my little bro has like, MIllions of Hot wheels and he stores the collectors in a mint conditions package, and the rest her displayed in his light! He has a Lamp, where the base is clear and empty, so you can fill it up. Hope this helped. =D -Teenweeklypick01
Hi, I think that booboo’s answer was excellent, but if don’t want to display them you can put them in a large tote with a lid to keep the dust off of them and to keep the packages in mint condition. Hope the ideas that you have received help a lot.
I’d say to store them in like a rubbermaid container somewhere where there’s no moisture. I mention this because my sister in law just had major flooding in her basement and even the stuff in these type of containers got ruined.
You could put them one layer at a time and then maybe put a layer of heavy cardboard over that layer and then put another layer and so on.
Good luck.
Probably a small tub of some sort. Those things are pretty sturdy.
Sincerely,
