I’ve seen chefs store and conceal brown sugar for periods of time without it caking up or becoming compact. Does anyone know how?

You can put a slice of bread in with it or an apple slice. =) K Syrah

Put it in a large ziplock bag, suck the air out of the bag and seal it. Then put it in the refrigerator.

the sugar becomes a brick because of the humidity. Placing it in the airtight bag and in the refrigerator should keep the moisture out of it. RebelAir

the bread trick. You can also do it with cookies you want to keep soft. Just put a slice of bread in the bottom of your cookie jar. The bread will get hard as a rock, but the cookies (and brown sugar) will remain soft! Freakgirl

I just put mine in a zip bag and press all the air out. I store mine in the cabinet, not in the fridge, with my regular sugar. Grandmabird

Mine is in a glass jar. When I’m ready to use it, I just shake it up and it’s ready to go! KRBi

I put mine in a freezer ziplock baggie and put it in the freezer. It will get hard as a brick, but take it out just a bit before you want to use it and as it warms up to room temperature it becomes soft, just like you first opened it. Lainey

I put mine in a plastic bag & zip it shut-it stays soft. suzann
