Who do i call for this problem? the computer company? Sony? or some store?

I got this dcrhc38 video camera a couple years ago for my birthday. I want to put videos on the computer and i used the USB cable and the handycam software that came with the camera but it wont work with windows vista according to sony customer support! they say i have to go buy new software and get an i-link cable and firewire software? what do i do or who do i call?
